My First Mac & Cheese

Yesterday, I came back home late and yet not even half of my work are finished. As I was starving and my beloved hubward still wants to wait for me to come home and cook, I just prepared a super simple menu. Pratha and sardine for dinner.

Today, although I still have tonnes of work, I decided to go back early because I was too damn tired. I was thinking of cooking sambal ikan and vege soup but as I was on my way back, hubward called and said he doesn't want to eat rice tonite and only wants to eat quaker oat. hmmm....great! I can save time on cooking and do laundry. But then, what should I cook for myself? I'm hungry....it seems that I'm always hungry. Damn it!! I need to loose weight!!

While thinking, I remembered from my bbm group chat yesterday evening of one of my chat buddies suggested macaroni and cheese and she even gave the recipe. The recipe is super simple. After making sure all ingredients are there (also stopped at Speedmart99 to buy milk and cheese), I'm determine to cook my first ever mac and cheese.

So, I made mine and left it on the stove to cool of while I clean up. After I'm ready, suddenly I heard hubward.

Hubward: Yang, how much did you cook?
Me: Not too much.
Hubward: It's delicious
(blush....ngeee~~~)

Ouh, he tasted it while I was in the shower. So there goes his quaker oat dinner and I had to share my mac & cheese. Fortunately, there was enough for two. Thank God! I was hungry. LOL

To those who have never made one, here is the recipe. This recipe is courtesy of Ninie Harneza, my sweet dear friend. :)

Ingredients:
1. Elbow Pasta / Macaroni (boiled)
2. Butter - 2 spoons
3. Wheat Flour - 2 spoons
4. Full Cream Milk - 2 cups
5. Cheddar Cheese - as you wish
6. Black Pepper
7. A pinch of salt

Preparation:
Heat your pot and then put in the butter and let is melt a bit then add the flour. Mix them well until yellowish colour. Later, add in the milk and add a bit of salt (to your taste). Then add the cheese and black pepper. Mixed them all until a bit creamy then add the boiled elbow pasta/macaroni.

I also added boiled potato (slice in small cube size) just because I love potatos! :)

So, HAPPY TRYING!!!

Giant, Carefour or Tesco?

Remember on Sunday I mentioned I'm going to Giant to buy groceries with the RM290 coupon voucher me and hubward won at the bowling tournament? Yes, we did go and finish up the whole coupon vouchers. The whole RM290 of them!

This is the first time ever I shopped at Giant. I did shop at Carefour and Tesco before and between those two I prefer Tesco better. And if I have to include Giant into the equation, it will be my least choice.

First of all, to me Giant doesn't have that many varieties of things. I can't even find Febreeze refill! For God sake! When asked, the customer service said it is out of stock. hmm...how convenient. And somehow to the the aisle are confusing too :P (or maybe that is just me). And second of all, there are things that are expensive. Milo was price at RM17.59 and if you pay RM17.99 you get free 50g Instant Nescafe. Ok, this is what we consumer need to be aware of. Not all promo are good promo. If I buy Milo in Tesco or maybe Speedmart99 (I think most of you are familiar with this blooming supermarket) it cost me only RM14.99 and the nescafe around RM3.99. So where is the promotion? We didn't really save any.

When I was waiting for the cashier to tag everything, I told him that Giant is manipulating consumers and it is not as cheap as it say it is. My trolley is not even half full and I'm paying RM288.30 for everything.

I am very particular about price and the type who compare them and I think all consumers need to do the same. Don't simply trust all these so called promotion on price reductions. But then of course, you will also need to calculate you other cost that some of you might not see and add in into the equation which is your journey cost (e.g petrol, toll & parking etc) to the particular hypermarket of your choice.

So, be a smart consumer and know your rights! ;)

Beginners Seasonal Luck. :)

Yesterday (Saturday), my company held a bowling tournament amongst its staff and family members. At first, I thought of not going but since it is fun and it involves family, I guess why not? Even though hubward and me sucks at bowling. The last time we ever played was like two years ago and most of the time, the bowling ball will go to the drain instead of dropping the pins. :P

We arrived a bit late as it was so hard to wake up hubward. Why is it men take women events less seriously but when it comes to their event, we have to get ready before they do? (but that is another whole story :P) I myself didn't anticipate much but hope to win. hey a girl can dream, rite? ahahahah....

Hubward was placed in a different group than mine and to my very surprise he did extremely well. When I say extremely well, I meant it. He scores 8 strikes out of ten throw which has never ever happened before. As for me, I did about average.

When the game is over, I was quite surprising to know that both of us had won. LOL. Hubward won the group and family single category and he had the second highest score and I won women single and masters category. Although the finale was a bit nerve-wrecking as the points between me and my opponent were slim. :P

Overall, lady luck was on our side and we had fun. Both of us won the trophy and mine is pretty big. It was handmade by the company staff and I did help too. eheheheh...not to mention Giant shopping vouchers with total worth of RM290! So today, we are going grocery shopping at giant. eheheheh....:D

Till my next entry....ciao!!

Micheal Jackson : Hollywood Tonight Video Premier

As I grew up listening to his beautiful music and admiring his moves, I am so happy to know about his latest video. Although is not literally there (ouh..how I would love it if he is there) but the video was done beautifully and the dancers are just awesome. It is easy to say that most dancers and entertainers are inspired my the late Micheal Jackson.

Rest in Peace Micheal! You will always be in the best place in our hearts! :)

I wonder who is the dancer who is featured in this video? She is excellent! She must feel superbly honored to do it. I know I would! (If I can dance that good)

Multitasking: Good or Bad?

Since I took a new job last June, the task given to me was rather minimal. So I thought, okay...this is good. Something worth with my pay :P. Well, that quickly change in October 2010 when our business development executive resigned. She got a way better offer of course.

During my interview, the interviewers did ask me whether I am up for any other project or responsibility given to me. Well, of course I do because it will help me to learn more things and break the routine. However, when I said that, I was thinking of a special project (short term). Since the girl resign, I have been doing all her task as business development executive. No doubt that is it exactly my background instead of the current procurement post I am holding but owning two jobs responsibilities is not easy. As time fly, I got busier and busier by the day. On the procurement side, I have tones of documents to check, verify and approve. On the business development side, I have lots of customers, RFQ and a whole lot of new things to handle. So much for low pressure and worthy pay. Ouh during that time, somehow even the store department came under me. huh?

So, I know I am good at multitasking but I think there is always a line where too much multitasking is not good. You'll loose focus and can't finish things on dateline. Result? Not that good. In my company, everything is urgent. It has come to the extend where I brought 5-6 stacks of documents home to be checked, verified and signed. What am I doing during working hours? Mostly entertaining calls, reviewing orders and on and off call from my GM who is a person who likes discussion and meetings.

Now, it has been 4 months I've been juggling and I think (if anyone is reading this blog) you would notice that I haven't wrote in awhile. Not that I don't want to right. I just don't have time. Today, I steel time. Miss my blog :(. I am lucky that a fellow twihard is helping me updating the Twilighters Malaysia blog and I am very thankful to her. My partner is still MIA and not sure if she is ever coming back. For me, I have started Twilighters Malaysia as a fan base for Malaysian Twihards and I am sure as hell not going to abandon it. Not ever!!

Last week, I was called by my GM to his room after he had a meeting with our COO at our HQ. I thought he wants to go through a presentation slide I've made for a meeting due early this week. Well, actually that is one of the reason. The main reason was to tell me that the COO has agreed on a restructuring the company organization chart and that I'm being promoted next month. Well, I guess my multitasking is a good thing after all. :) It was bad for mental and physical, but good for the career.

Alhamdulillah, everything is getting better. I have more to share on my house hunting and baby project but I think I have wrote too much and will save it for my next entry. Until next time, when ever that is.....;)
